The Return of Stanley Atwell
Ella Purnell, the Brit star best known for lead roles in “Fallout,” “Sweetpea” and “Yellowjackets,” is joining Nicholas Galitzine in upcoming feature “The Return of Stanley Atwell.”
The film, described as as seductive thriller, comes from Hera Pictures, the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning production company behind “Hamnet,” and co-produced with John Gore Studios.

I Fought the Law
ITV drama I Fought the Law, chronicling the campaign to change the UK’s double jeopardy law, picked up three prizes at the Royal Television Society North East and the Borders annual TV Awards.
Sheridan Smith, who played Teesside campaigner Ann Ming fighting to bring to justice her daughter’s killer, won Best Performance. Ben Wilson was awarded Best Photography and the show itself was named Best Drama.

In 2019, Maggie O’Farrell’s agent sent emailed a group of producers and filmmakers to share a manuscript of the author’s upcoming book. “Hamnet,” as the novel was titled, centered around William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes, following the couple as they grapple with the sudden death of their 11-year-old son. Liza Marshall, a U.K. based producer, read it in a single sitting.
“It was such an extraordinarily moving book,” Marshall says. “I had a profound reaction to it. There was an intimacy to it, and it was incredibly tragic, but also cinematic. Ultimately, it’s about the healing power of storytelling.”

Fresh off the back of multiple Oscar nominations and a record-breaking haul of BAFTA nods, “Hamnet” lead producer Liza Marshall has extended her creative partnership with Maggie O’Farrell, the celebrated author of the book the hit film was adapted from.
Marshall, who optioned “Hamnet” before its publication in 2020, has now secured the screen rights to O’Farrell’s upcoming novel “Land” for her London-based production company Hera Pictures.

Another record-breaking feat for Chloé Zhao this awards season: Hamnet is officially BAFTA‘s most-nominated film by a female director ever.
Nomadland director Zhao stole the spotlight as the British Academy named their contenders ahead of the Feb. 22 ceremony in London. Her Sam Mendes- and Steven Spielberg-produced Shakespearean drama Hamnet landed 11 BAFTA Film Awards noms, the most for a female filmmaker in BAFTA history.
